  Traffic/Safety Guidelines

Is mian linn bhur n-aird a dhiriú ar chúrsaí sábháilteachta ar an láthair scoile.

We would like to draw your attention to the Safety/Traffic guidelines in our school.

In the interest of the safety and wellbeing of all our children the following vital safety measures have been agreed. These will be monitored very closely at the beginning of the school year and are subject to review.

  1. Pedestrians /cyclists are not allowed to use the main entrance of Tanner Park to enter Tanner Park, the Ballincollig Rugby Club site, from Classes Lake. Cars ONLY are to use this entrance

  2. Pedestrians and cyclists are to use the Ballincollig Rugby Club pedestrian gate (wicket gate) located by the Clubhouse to access the school. (As an active school we encourage cycling, walking, scooting to school and will have new facilities in place for bicycles and scooters). This gate is accessed from the main road. Pedestrians/cyclists are then to follow the walkway adjacent to the BRC changing rooms from the gate at the club house into the school yard to access the school safely. Access to the school is via the school yard. Access is not to be gained through the school gate.

  3. Pedestrians should only enter and exit through the playground

  4. The school gate is for vehicles only

In relation to parking, dropping-off and collecting children safely;

  • Parents are asked to drive slowly at all times and when parking to reverse into a car parking space

  • At drop-off and collection times the main gates of the school will be open to allow for a Set Down only system to operate. We reiterate that only cars are allowed enter this zone. We will have stewards in place next week to ensure the utmost safety of all children and to support parents accessing the Assigned Entry doors for each class in accordance with our Covid-19 Response Plan.

  • All parents are responsible for the safety of their children. BOM or BRFC do not accept responsibility.

As outlined in our School Information Booklet for Parents (page4) and in previous correspondence “Parents are reminded that the school does not accept responsibility for pupils before the official opening times of 8.30am or after school at 12.00/1.30pm/2.30pm”

We politely ask you to be vigilant when dropping children off and collecting them taking our new COVID-19 ROUTINES INTO CONSIDERATION particularly with regard to SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Children can not be seen to be wandering freely on the BRFC grounds, between cars or outside the designated safety zones in the school complex.

  • Parents are reminded that the car park adjoining the RSA Driving School is in constant use for the testing of large vehicles. Parents are earnestly requested not to park there.

  •  After school, children are not allowed to play outside of the school complex on the Ballincollig Rugby Pitches or grounds;

In keeping with our Active School accreditation and Active School Policy children may play after school in the school yard with their own class group. The main school gates will be closed once all cars have left the car park after school collections. Please vacate the set down area promptly so the gates can be closed as soon as possible. Once these gates are closed children may then use this area also for play. Children need to be supervised by parents at all times during this time after school within the school grounds.
