Ag tús Mí Aibreáin 2019,i dteannta leis an Arts in Education Award, bhí na leanaí ó Naíonain Bheaga agus Naíonain Mhóra ag cur a gcuid taighde agus taithí faoinár mbráid faoi thionscnamh bunaithe ar ár dtimpeallacht scoile san Earrach tré mheán digiteach an Phortál, Arts in Education. S'í aidhm an ghradhaim seo ná tacú a thabhairt d'fhorbairt mhodhanna thaifid d'obair ealaíne in Éirinn a fhéadfadh bheith roinnte i measc a phobal ealáine agus a thugann léargas ar na proséiseanna difriúla d'fhorbairt foghlama.

Bhí múinteoir Lisa ag obair go dian linn agus sinn ag céiliúradh teacht an Earraigh. Bhí na leanaí ag dul i ngleic go cruthaitheach leis an timpeallacht nadúrtha agus le na crainn ach go héirithe. Le linn an téarma a bhí Lisa linn, bhíomar ag súil lasmuigh chun féachaint and fiosrú a dhéanamh ar na crainn agus plandaí a fhásann i bPáirc Tanner. Mar is gnáth, is é páirt ghníomhach na leanaí agus a bhfreagraí cruthaitheacha croílár an tionscnaimh seo. B'fhiú do teaghlaigh am a thógaint chun breathnú agus fiosrú a dhéanamh ar fhás an Earragih timpeall  a dtithe féin nó nuair a bhíonn sibh amuigh ag siul. Ní gá duit ainm an chrainn nó an phlanda a bheith ar eolas agat! Tiocfaidh leor an fhéachaint agus an breathnú.

Tháinig Foireann na hEalaíona san Oideachas chun na scoile Dé Céadaoin 1 Bealtaine agus arís ar an 15ú lá 2019 chun griangrafanna agus físeanna a thógaint ar na leanaí sna seisiúin dheireanacha dá dtionscnamh. .

Fuair ár leanaí deis Páirc Tainner a fhiosrú ar ár siulóidí dúlra. Thug na leanaí faoi deara na bachlóga ag oscailt ar na crainn áitiúla agus pléascadh amach na nóiníní timpeall na bpáirceanna. Ag siúl amuigh faoin aer, d'éisteadar d'fhuaimeanna héin ag canadh. Bhailíodar roinnt ábhair nadúrtha ón dtimpeallacht, cipíní, cóin, bláthanna agus duilleoga agus d' úsáideadar iad mar uirlisí learáidí péinte agus patrún.

In early April 2019, in conjunction with the Arts in Education Documentation Award, our Junior and Senior Infant children related their findings and experiences of a project they were enjoying working on with Múinteoir Lisa Cahill based on the outdoors and the emerging senses of Spring, through the digital medium of the Arts in Education Portal.  The purpose of the award was to support the development of documented outcomes from Arts in Education initiatives in Ireland, which can be shared with the arts in education community and give insights into different processes of engagement. Outcomes of the documentation process included a project video. The Arts in Education team visited the school to engage with the children's learning on Monday 1st and 15th May 2019

The focus of the research was to consider creative engagement with the natural environment, particularly trees. During the term, the children enjoyed and learned a great deal from venturing outside to explore the trees and plants that grow at Tanner Park. The children’s active participation and their creative responses formed an integral part of this project. Múinteoir Lisa Cahill was granted the award to work with three schools and Gaelscoil an Chaisleáin is proud to have been chosen by her to participate

We further encouraged our school families to take time to explore and observe the buds of Spring around their own home and during a walk. You don't have to know the name of the tree or plant. Simply looking and observing the changes that Spring brings is enough. Perhaps you might like to choose a tree or plant to observe.

Our children were given the opportunity to explore Tanner Park on spring nature walks. The children noticed buds starting to open up on the local trees, and explosions of daisies throughout the fields. While walking in the breeze they listened out for sounds of nature and birds singing. They collected some natural materials such as twigs, cones, flowers, and leaves which they used with black paint as their tools to create patterns of nature drawings. were

Scoileanna Ildánacha / Creative Schools

Le linn an téarma seo, bhí ár leanaí ag úsáid a gcuid samhlaíochta agus guthanna chun féidireachtaí na timpeallacht scoile a fhorbairt faoi thionscnamh na Scoileanna Ildánacha. Na plátaí adhmaid agus polaí spreagtha ag an ScolChoiste Gharraídeoireachta a bhunaigh tús an tionscnaimh seo chun samhlaíocht na leanaí a ghríosadh agus níl deireadh lena smaointí agus féidireachtaí idir chúrsaí constaice, seastán boinn, droichid, geataí, framaí aclaíochta, réaltaí, staighrí, cathaoireacha cruthaithe ina measc mar chuid den bhfís gur mhaith leo bheith acu sa timpeallacht scoile! Tabhair sracfhéachaint ar na cláracha sa scoil chun blaiseadh a fháil de….

Over the past term our children have been using their imaginations and voices to explore possibilities for our school environment under the Creative Schools Initiative. The colourful pallets and poles inspired by the school’s garden committee formed the platform to fire the imaginations of the children and the thoughts and possibilities from them were endless as obstacle courses, podiums, bridges, tree houses, gates, limber frames, stars, stairs, chairs all featured in their vision for what they would like to see created. Take a look at our brainstorming Creative Schools’ board to get a taste of what’s to come….
