The Suzuki Violin programme was launched in our school in September 2018. Sheena Knepper, BMus, has designed a whole-school Suzuki programme, where the children learn together in small groups during school time as part of the school curriculum. At the very centre of the Suzuki ethos is the concept of the “Suzuki Triangle: Teacher, Child and Parental Involvement” Model to support the child's learning.  We are a triangle working together. This is key to the success of our programme. Communication is regular with emails from Sheena directly sharing with parents what the children are learning week to week, and access to a google drive where new videos are regularly uploaded so that Parents are involved in every step of the programme.

 

Leis an modh Suzuki, foghlaimíonn na páistí conas an veidhlín a sheinm tríd a gcuid cluasa a thraenáil chun an port a phiocadh suas. Through the Suzuki method, children learn to play violin by training their ear to "pick up the tune." One of the most beneficial things Parents can do at the start of your child's Suzuki journey is to play the Suzuki violin Book 1 Cd every day at home. The   Suzuki method begins very much with a focus on learning by ear and listening to the Cd regularly allows the children internalise the pieces which will help them build up this skill very naturally over time. The more they listen to the Suzuki violin Book 1 Cd,  which contains all the pieces they need for the first few years of violin, the more prepared they will be and the more they will enjoy the process of finding what we are hearing from the Cd, and putting it onto our instrument. Sheena also holds several parent information evenings throughout the school year.
